D.L. May, 87, of Abilene passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 in Abilene.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 US HWY 277 S., Abilene, Texas 79606. D.L. was born on November 24, 1933 in Vernon, Texas to the late Dewey May and Ila Florance Lawson May. He served his many years in the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard. D.L. was a hard worker and worked most of his life from the age of 12 until he was 75 years old. He worked for Lonestar gas as a manager for 20 years and Dunnigan Oil Company as an inventory manager for many years. D.L. also worked for Pride Oil Company as well as the Texas Workforce Commission assisting residents of the Big County secure employment. He enjoyed hanging out with family and friends, watching football games, dancing, playing golf when he could and would go to Rose Park Senior Center and play pool. D.L. will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
D.L. is survived by his children, Doug May and wife Lisa, Patricia Wallace and boyfriend Joe, Denise Layne and husband Gary; grandchildren, Brett M. May, Michael D. May, Emily A. May, Brian Williamson, Cooper Wallace, Colby Wallace; great grandchildren, Madison May and Jaedyn Williamson, Winter Wallace; siblings, Vondal Powell, Darlin May and wife Mary, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
