Birth is a miracle and Death is a mystery. Lois was born in Abilene, Texas to the late Rosie Lee Washington-Cook and William Cook. She attended the Abilene Negro Schools; married and became the mother of ten children. She was employed at the Abilene State School and retired after serving 32 years. Following her fulltime employment at the Abilene State School, she worked part-time at ABM for 5 years.
Her passion has always been serving others. Lois was a member of Holiday Hills Baptist Church where she ushered for 15-years in which she was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for her faithful service as a member of the City-Wide Usher Board. She was also involved in planning and coordinating activities that recognized the accomplishments of the men, women, and children of the church. She took great pleasure in volunteering within her community.
Lois was very affectionate and had such a nurturing and mothering relationship to all who crossed her path. Some of the neighborhood children called her “Nana.” She was such a kind and generous person. To know her is to love her. She put so much effort and love in cooking big meals and took great pride in feeding those who were hungry because she never wanted to see anyone hungry. Family gatherings were important to her. She enjoyed when the family would come together and reminisce about the good times we all shared.
During her lifetime, Lois did the one thing that was important to her, and that was dedicating her life to caring for her home and family. The family consist of twenty-five grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. She married and mothered ten children. Preceding her in death were her late husband Melvin Wayne Williams; three sons Marvin (Rusty) Daniels, Billy Don Daniels, and Floyd (Bubba) Green; her parents Rosie Lee Washington-Cook, and William Cook; two brothers William Cook, Jr., and Bobby Joe Cook; two sisters Opal Lee Cook, and Dorothy Jean Crain; two grandsons Yancey Daniels, and Rodney Williams; and one great grandson Torrance Wall.
