P aligncenternbspPP aligncenterMERNA MARINEL BENNETTPP aligncenternbspPPnbspPPMerna Marinel Bennett of Uvalde passed away on February 15, 2007 at her residence at the age of 84 after a battle with cancer.nbsp She was born on November 23, 1922 in st1:place w:stonst1:City w:stonBrownwoodst1:City, st1:State w:stonTXst1:Statest1:place to John Waldo and Elva Baxter Carson.nbsp She attended school in Dimmitt, Batesville and La Pryor, and graduated from st1:place w:stonst1:PlaceName w:stonUvaldest1:PlaceName st1:PlaceType w:stonHigh Schoolst1:PlaceTypest1:place in 1939.nbsp She attended st1:PlaceName w:stonTexasst1:PlaceName st1:PlaceName w:stonChristianst1:PlaceName st1:PlaceName w:stonUniversityst1:PlaceName in st1:PlaceType w:stonFt.st1:PlaceType st1:PlaceName w:stonWorthst1:PlaceName and the st1:PlaceType w:stonUniversityst1:PlaceType of st1:PlaceName w:stonTexasst1:PlaceName in st1:City w:stonst1:place w:stonAustinst1:placest1:City.nbsp In 1957 she graduated from st1:place w:stonst1:PlaceName w:stonSouthwestst1:PlaceName st1:PlaceName w:stonTexasst1:PlaceName st1:PlaceType w:stonJunior Collegest1:PlaceTypest1:place with an Associate of Arts degree.nbsp She married Benjamin Holloway Bennett on May 9, 1943 at the 1st Christian Church in st1:place w:stonst1:City w:stonHamiltonst1:City, st1:State w:stonTXst1:Statest1:place.nbsp They lived and ranched in Batesville until 1951, when they moved to Uvalde, continuing to own and operate the Bennett Arrowhead Ranch until their retirement.nbsp She is survived by her sister, Bettie Belle Brown of Batesville her children, son, Benjamin Baxter Bennett and wife, Carmen of San Antonio daughterinlaw, Mary Sue Laffere and husband, Don of Uvalde son, Blaine Bennett and wife, Nancy of Uvalde and son, Farris Bennett and wife, Cecily of Uvalde one brotherinlaw, Bill Bennett and wife, Laverne of Coleman and two sistersinlaw, Madge Bell of Austin and Barbara Weideman and husband, John of Granbury 12 grandchildren 11 greatgranchildren andnbsp numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.nbsp She was preceded in death by her husband parents stepfather, Fred Duck Boswell of Batesville one son, Fred Carson Rusty Bennett of Batesville and one brotherinlaw, Bernard Brown of Batesville. A private graveside service was held in st1:place w:stonst1:PlaceName w:stonHillcrestst1:PlaceName st1:PlaceType w:stonCemeteryst1:PlaceTypest1:place at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2007.nbsp A memorial service followed at 3:00 PM at the 1st United Methodist Church.nbsp Rev. Scott Bradford officiated.nbsp Pallbearers were Rusty Bennett, Mickey Gerdes, Clint Laffere, Will Brown, George Franklin, and Willie Edwards.nbsp Honorary pallbearers were Lewis Bracy, George Horner, Dusty Huddleston, Joe Bill Carper, Alan Carmichael, John Shudde, Roy Kothmann, Charlie Griffin, Gary Griffin, and Clark Ward.Pnbsp
